The Viper Marine Controllers are a brushed speed control designed specifically for use in RC model boats.
the controllers have a marked motor limit, what this means is that you can use any, DC brushed motor, as long as the current drawn by that motor does not exceed the marked amperage limit under load (with the prop connected, under water).
These controllers are the perfect speed controller for anybody wanting a no nonsense reversible electronic speed control for scale & Sport model RC boats at Regular Scale speeds.
The line of Viper marine speed controls, have a wide range of features included, such as a built in failsafe, 100% proportional, fine throttle control in both directions, and motor stall protection, which is a feature that cannot be overlooked when a possible encounter with weeds is always just round the corner. Not to forget that the Viper Marine range of speed controllers are all completely 100% waterproof.
The range of Viper Controllers are designed to work on a voltage range from 6v to 13v and will work from NiMh Batteries, SLA batteries and other types, although these controllers do not have a low voltage cutoff for use on LiPo type batteries.
The controllers are designed to work on fully charged 12V Lead Acid batteries, which read well over 12v
Please note, controllers are a polarised piece of electronic equipment, and as such will be destroyed by connecting the power leads to the battery in reverse polarity, this damage is not covered by item warranty.
Typical Usage
Viper Micro 10a - Small models and motors up to 370 Size Continuous drain 7.5a Max drain 10a Fuse at 5 to 7.5a
Typically small scale models or converted small plastic models
Viper 15a - Small to intermediate models and motors from 385 up to 540/1 Low Drain Size, Continuous drain 10a - Max drain 15a Fuse at 10a . Typical use, scale models like Tugs and Workboats with lower power 385 to 540/1 motors not for use with high power motors.
Viper 20a - intermediate and larger models and motors with heavier current Drain, Continuous drain 15A - Max drain 20A. Fuse at 15a, A heavier controller that can be used with models and motors needing more power, will work well with models such as Club 500 mini Club racer with a 550 motor, but will also work with larger 800 Motors in scale workboats and tugs.
