A model showing various stages of the weather on a 1000 mile scale.  Likely an instructional tool used for navigator training at AAFNS, Hondo.

On the front it is labeled as follows:

  AFTAD Photo

And  hand written on back:

  Three Dimensional Weather Map

AFTAD was the Air Force Training Aids Division of the US Army Air Force.

This is likely from AAFNS at Hondo although there is nothing indicating this.

AAFNS was the Army Air Force Navigational School at Hondo Air Base during WW2.  They trained bomber and transport navigators.

A very rare and unique photo.  The history of the Hondo Air Base is extensive and online, check it out on Wikia.

Be sure to check out the other photos I have listed from this grouping.

Measures 8 x 10 inches.
