Set of 4 mint-condition 8-inch diameter collector plates, 24k gold on sterling silver, The Danbury Mint American Bicentennial Series, limited edition number 3653 of 7500:
This rare set of four consecutive-series sterling silver collector plates was purchased directly from the Danbury Mint in each year the plates were released; none of the plates has ever been displayed. The set has been in the family's possession and has been stored as a set in the original boxes and cases. Each plate in the series is serialized with #3653 out of 7500 produced.

The plates have been stored in original tarnish-resistant pouches, each inside the original padded red-satin display case with magnetic closure, within the matching red storage box. The plates are in mint condition, with all of the decorative gold etchings intact. The plates have some noticeable tarnish marks in areas, despite how carefully they have been stored. Included with the set are the original Danbury Mint registration certificates and letters to the plate owner. Three of the plates come with a special glove for use when handling the plates (the first plate in the series, 'Paul Revere's Ride,' does not have a glove). The glove for 'Washington at Valley Forge' had been inadvertently stored between the display case and the shipping box, which left an imprint on the cover of the display case.

To purchase all four limited-edition collector plates with the same serial number, 3653, makes owning this set far more valuable than buying the plates individually. This beautiful display-quality set would make a stunning gift.
