For sale is an exceedingly rare, historical collector’s item – an original, uniquely numbered ticket to attend the wedding of His Serene Highness Prince Rainier of Monaco to the actress Grace Kelly.

The ceremony, which took place on 19th April 1956, was described as “the wedding of the century”. It was held at Monaco’s Cathedral (where both Rainier and Grace are now buried), and included a traditional Catholic nuptial Mass. Those attending included dozens of European royalty as well as Hollywood stars like Cary Grant, Ava Gardner, David Niven and more. The 65th anniversary of the marriage will be marked this coming April.

This particular ticket belonged to Lady Michelham of Kelingley, who attended the wedding and sat near the front in row 13. The exact seating position is marked on the rear of the ticket, where a map of the Cathedral is shown.

Interestingly, the ticket includes a handwritten note (in French), to remind the recipient to “arrive before 9:30am”. As the whole world was watching, it’s hardly surprising that organisers were keen to avoid any delays!

The ticket is printed on thick cardboard, and is in excellent condition, as pictured. This is the only such item I have ever seen for sale, so get your hands on an authentic piece of royal and celebrity history!

The item will be securely wrapped and posted out via Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery, fully insured. Please feel free to contact me if you have any queries at all.
