These depth skids are made by Northwest Passage Tools from 6061 T6 anodized aluminum.  They can be attached to the Veritas No. 4 and No. 4-1/2 custom bench planes made by Lee Valley using the provided 10-32 stainless steel slotted thumb screws and washers. They make it possible to achieve precise thicknesses when planing stock that is too thin for power equipment.  They are ideal for working with inlay, shoji/kumiko components, and other parts that need to be planed to a precise thickness.

For multiple parts, the thickness can be set using an existing component, set up blocks or gauge pins.  They have a capacity up to 2" (50 mm) and when not being used can be retracted so that they sit just above the bottom surface of the plane.

Note that this auction is only for the pair of depth skids and mounting hardware - it does not include the plane.  These only fit the newer Lee Valley/Veritas custom bench planes that have two 10-32 screw holes in each side for mounting accessories such as fences - they don't fit the older bevel up planes with only one screw hole.  Buyer pays actual shipping cost from Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

For buyers in the US, I've added the Canada Post Small Packets USA Option as a lower shipping cost option, but please be aware that this has no tracking, so I can be responsible if it goes missing.  I do recommend going with the slightly more expensive tracked packet option.
