Sidereal Kaps DCT Polypropylene Capacitor, 2.5uF 10% 200VDC, NOS (Last one !)

P/N EGA7276-16

New Old Stock (NOS)

Deep Cryogenically Treated (DCT) capacitor by bridge metering at 7.8KHz being found to indicate parameters of 2.465uF / 0.046ESR.

Approx. Length= 44mm x 14mm Diameter. Leads: Copper OFC stranded teflon insulated wire approx. 100mm pre-stripped insulation tinned ends, blue and black. Black denotes outer foil winding and should be connected to the more negative voltage in DC blocking applications for best screening and in AC applications it should be connected as the signal source input. Full non-magnetic construction.

A premium capacitor suited to top end audio equipment primarily intended for use in high voltage thermionic valve based equipment. Used extensively in high quality vintage amplifiers cira. 1985-1995

Can also be used in loudspeaker crossover networks and other low voltage filtering applications where low losses are critical and size constrains will allow.

Personally speaking if the equipment that you intend to connect this capacitor to isn’t in the +£1,000 sound quality costs range already you would probably be wasting your money and time on purchasing them as their sonic benefits are unlikely be fully realized in lesser equipment.

Storage Age: +20 years. DCT 2015 indicated by blue paint dot.

Run-in/Burn-in time: First 3hrs of use the capacitors will sound “fairly horrible” thereafter starting to get less nauseous with 72hrs onwards being best for evaluating on a “keep in circuit/remove from circuit” decision point basis. They will go on getting better sounding with around 7 days of use needed for critical A-B evaluation as a minimum. It is an accepted phenomenon that several months of use down the line they will give of their very best.

Returns: Accepted if item description incorrect/incorrect supply of parts is notified within 14 days and physically returned within 21 days. Return postage refunded as well as purchase price if agreed best course of action.

Re-stocking: Accepted as being 50% of purchase cost upon return of item within 30 days in undamaged condition. To avail yourself of this please connect the capacitors to your intended circuit with croc clip leads for evaluation and acceptance testing to see if they are the capacitor for you and your equipment sound quality improvement needs. Any re-stocked capacitors will have to be relisted as used and priced accordingly unfortunately. N.B. De-Soldered capacitors and/or their shortened leads constitutes heavy useage/damaged condition and they cannot be re-stocked.
