"On the Sound Signed etching .By J. Bertram. Dispatched with Royal Mail 2nd Class.

This etching is by J Bertram. J Bertram was an American artist active in the early 20th century. He is most known for his works reproduced by the Reliance Print and Frame company.

Between 1910 and 1940 the Reliance Frame Company produced not just frames, but a number of nice pieces of art. They contracted with artist like Bertram in New York and Chicago to produced prints for their customers.

Like this one most were signed and titled by the artist. Titles often changed for demographic reasons. It is not uncommon to see the same work with 2-3 different titles.

The original for this piece is housed in the Brooklyn Museum.

Because these were mass produced they do not have great value, however signed by the artist, and having survived from the 1930s they are indeed real art.

There are a couple of marks on this print but I pretty good order for its age.
