Description:
Oil on canvas, glued on cardboard. Signed with the artists monogram A.V to the lower right and dated 1917. Huge impressive still-life with porcelain doll in front of a mirror. A rare oil by female pioneer painter, Ane Villadsen (1877-1953) A certificate of authenticity will be included with this work.
Condition:
Ready to hang. In good condition with no holes, tears or missing paint. The oil could use a light cleaning, due to the age. The original frame has minor scratches due to the age.
Ane Villadsen (1877-1953)
Born in Thy, Denmark in 1877. Died unmarried in 1953. Important female pioneer artist. She attended the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen and studied in private with Proffesor Einar Olsen and Bizzy Hoyer. She debuted at the Artists Fall Exhibition in 1919 and participated at the Royal Charlottenborg show from 1933. She also worked and lived in Germany during the early 1930s. She resided most of life on the small Danish island, Mors. Where she had her studio and did many landscapes from the area. She also did a series of portraits and still-lifes.
