Closed cell foam has many different properties and is fully waterproof due to its closed cell nature preventing water migration. It has therefore high buoyancy capabilities making it useful for watersproofing. It comes in several densities. The harder density foam forms a better sound barrier but the softer foam will prevent some sound reverberation similar to acoustic foams.
All closed cell form is thermal and will keep you warm if lying/kneeling on cold concrete floors. Protects you when lying on even surfaces etc. Your own heat is reflected back to you. It will be good for insulating vehicles like vans. Great for converting vans to campers etc.
