La Luna

Details

Product Description

“La Luna” is a 47 minute electronic piece that was actually recorded several years prior to its release in 1996. It is subtitled ‘An Electronic Night Ceremony’ and described by its creator as "like a gamelan orchestra session on a very electronic basis". The foundation is seemingly comprised of backwards looping and the neutral tick-tock of synthetic percussion. Czukay fills it in with space, various sound effects, the stop-starts characteristic of his editing and strange permutations on these basic patterns. The bottom unexpectedly drops at 17:45, but builds back up within several minutes. At the 30-minute mark, vocalist U-She enters over this foundation with an incantation to the moon.

The Revisited re-release of “La Luna” is digitally remastered and comes housed in deluxe digipak format with an unreleased bonus track.

A 47-minute one track trip through suspended electronica and ambiance from the Can founder, adding yet another piece to a career jigsaw spanning over 35 years. Subtitled as "an electronic night ceremony" this is a tribute to the Goddess of the moon, La Luna. Czukay sets the scene with metallic drone and an omni-present heartbeat kick drum. Utilising the prowess of poet and partner U-She, Czukay also intertwines her words of cosmic wisdom into this dense structure, in doing so extending the plot of "Mirage" from his previous "Good Morning Story" long player. An intense listening experience that avoids over production in exchange for the spontaneity created by a live session. --Found Sounds
