This is a collage of the original patent art for a method for "Synchronizing Photoplays." As explained in the patent text, when animation was in its early phases, getting images and sounds to line up was very difficult - especially when the animation featured a character playing an instrument with precise touch (like piano keys). This invention solved the problem and allowed Walt Disney to produce some of the most awe-inspiring and advanced scenes in early animated films & cartoons. This poster is such a cool look into early animation techniques!
