Manuka Jelly Bush

(Leptospermum polygalifolium)

Commonly known as Jelly bush, Tea Tree, Broom Tea-tree or Manuka.

It is definitely a true blue, small & medicinal Australian native shrub. Known to beekeepers

as 'Jelly Bush' as the honey formed a jelly like appearance and consistency. It was later

found that this very trait and its biochemistry made it quite valuable.

Only one of two (2) Leptospermum species that have the highest levels of medicinal

 anti-microbial compounds.

 Leptospermum polygalifolium and Leptospermum scoparium.

Frost hardy and grows best in full sunlight. Dry to moist soil.

Neutral to slightly acid pH. Frost tolerant.
