In northern Romania exists a quaint little town with a dynamic name.
Known as Baia Mare in Romanian, Nagybánya in Hungarian, Frauenbach in German,
Banya in Yiddish, and Rivulus Dominarum in Latin,
it is home to the famous Baia Mare School of Painting.
Here, in 1896, the Hungarian artist Simon Hollósy established a workshop and artistic center
in which over 3,000 artisans - painters, sculptors, graphic artists, potters, and designers -
from Central and Eastern Europe have created their crafts for over a century.

Respectable successor and contemporary artist of Baia Mare School of Painting,
Andreas Szanto takes mundane places, faces, and gestures
and mixes them in talent's skillet to engrave them into an unpredictable immortality.
There is something magical about Szanto's artworks
that beckons you to return again and again, with agonizing breath,
only to discover one more hidden, amazing detail.
And then another. And another.
The discoveries and perceptions are ever changing and endless.
