  • INFRARED CAMERAS

      • Infrared CCTV cameras use infrared LED lighting positioned around the outside of the camera lens in order to capture information. Even in areas where there is absolutely no light. No matter what the environmental conditions are, infrared measures the heat coming from objects in the area, and this can be read by the camera with no light required. Infrared can also travel through fog, dust and smoke no matter how thick. It can even travel through some materials.

        Although infrared CCTV cameras are often referred to as night vision cameras, don’t confuse them with ‘day/night’ cameras. A day/night camera has a very sensitive imaging chip that lets the camera capture a viewable picture even in low light conditions. It does not, however, use infrared technology. A day/night camera is a good option for areas that have a constant source of light, such as a street light or security light, but they will not work if that light is switched off or broken (either accidentally or deliberately).

      WIDE DYNAMIC RANGE

      WDR is the acronym for Wide Dynamic Range. It is a technology that some video cameras have and that serves to compensate for problems with exposure to light. With WDR technology, the camera compensates for images where there are dark and bright areas, in which there is a great decompensation and we cannot see sharp images if we use a normal camera. With this technology, a balance between brightness and darkness is achieved, notably improving image quality and obtaining a more uniform result, thanks to this dynamic treatment of light.

      An example of the use of this technology is found in the following situation. When a camera is directed towards a window, we can find areas in which more or less light enters. With a normal camera, without WDR, we will see a part of the image very dark and another very bright, with which many details will be lost. This can be a security breach since we can lose part of what happens in that darker area. With WDR technology a balance is achieved and we see the entire area of ​​that window with a uniform light level, without loss of detail.

    • All of our CCTV camera's have a minimum rating of IP66 and go up to IP67. So, what do the numbers really mean? The IP means Ingress Protection, that much you know now. The first digit after IP shows what the Mechanical Protection is. IP6 means that the product is totally protected against dust. The second digit shows us what the Water Ingress Protection is. IP66 means that the product is protected against low pressure water jets from all directions.
