This item is a Brand NEW 55 button programmable infrared remote control. The software and programming guide allows the user to custom program any infrared protocol, change commands for each key, add macros, just about anything not available in most universal infrared remote controls, all from the 6 pin header under the battery cover. Universal remote controls often do not have the correct code for your device, sometimes the codes may work for some keys, and other functions would be unavailable. Using the software, you can edit the command for every single remote key. You can even control lights, appliances, (even your air conditioner) when the correct data is programmed into this remote. The software is very easy to use. If you don't have the commands for your existing remote, you can capture the commands using an IR Decoder also available.
The remote may not have the code for your TV, DVD Player, etc. This is why you need the cable for 100% success when programming the codes.
