The rings have male thread & female thread. The male thread is of smaller diameter (to be screwed onto lens front). The female thread is bigger (for adding UV, CPL, ND, GND filters that are bigger than lens filter size).
For example, 62-67 ring allows a lens of 62mm filter size to accept 67mm filters.
