DESCRIPTION: Here we have a wonderful bronze statue with gold colored patination featuring a seated classical lady reading a book. The bronze is After Moreau and is sighed to the leg of the chair 'Moreau', please see close up photograph of signature. The statue is beautifully detailed and depicts a woman seater which a book resting on her lap which she is reading from. The piece is of good proportions as can be seen from the wine bottle the scale of it (please note the wine bottle is not part of the sale).  

We believe this piece is in the manner of James Pradier (1790-1852) and is inspired by Sappho, a marble statue realized by Pradier in 1852, which is currently conserved at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. 

DIMENSIONS:  The approximate MAXIMUM dimensions are:  9 1/2 inches / 24 cm wide x 4 3/4 inches / 12 cm deep x 11 1/4 inches /28.5 cm high.

CONDITION:  The bronze is in lovely condition as can be seen from the photographs.
