Its like the Big Free Flight Kit Dakota had a Baby Brother.
We have here the FREE FLIGHT Baby Micro Electric 12 inch
Span Dakota ( Can be converted to RC)
See the photos we have not unpacked the parts, but we
have taken a pic or two.
This is probably one of the best value models in the BMJR Micro Electric Range
The mini-Dakota is a P-Nut, 12" wingspan, half size
version of Joe Wagner's Dakota. It has been engineered for micro electric free
flight with the HiLine Micro-4 motor. The small motors from the Tony Ray Kits
or Park Zone or E Flite Kits can be used.
The wood and fittings are included for Free Flight. No
electronics, No Motor. There is a plan and comprehensive building instructions,
and the kit is topped off with some very nice lightweight tissue which can vary
in colour. It’s mostly yellow. Very similar tissue to the old light weight
model span (from memory).
Something like a Vapor Motor and Gear Box would be great for
Free Flight and Maybe one of the larger
Motor Sets ( Ultra Micro Series ParkZone Mustang, Suikhoi etc)
We don’t have suitable RC listed on eBay, but the store we
sell these for does. steve_webb_models on eBay. They also have available on
other selling platforms. We cannot put a link as it is against eBay rules. We
would advise to get the kit, study it and go from there!
Micro-Electric is a sport free flight type to be flown in
small spaces like school yards or indoors. With the advent of micro brushless
motors and LiPo batteries these models are finding themselves more and more as micro-RC.
If you do not fly Micro RC already, we advise you to get a model that is a
dedicated RC model, to learn how to convert Free Flight Models like this one.
This listing is for a 12 inch Laser Cut Replica Micro Dakota.
The Details below are the history of the original ( the original is not on sale
in this listing)
History of the design
Note the following refers to the 1949 ½ A Free Flight
Model. The Model you are buying as above is a replica at 12 inch span for Free
Flight or RC conversion if you know how. SWM also stocks the larger version. As
below.
The Original Dakota was designed in September 1949, and was Joe Wagner's first design that was
kitted. The Dakota was designed as a "foolproof" 1/2A free flight and incorporated several features that
provided automatic stability in flight. The BMJR kit includes all laser cut
parts, includes notched wing leading edges and the pre-bent landing gear wire.
Everything needed to build this model is in the box except glue, engine, and a
fuel proof coating. BMJR is delighted to have had the opportunity to work with
Joe on his re-release of a true all-time-classic. 24" span. Model was
originally flown with an OK Cub .049. We have also built and flown 1 with a
Baby Bee (went OOS on an almost full tank) and a Pee Wee 020
You can collect from SWM, but please arrange via eBay or
