description:the Jagannath triad, an important Hindu deity worshipped mainly in the state of Odisha, India. The work is a pictorial representation on cloth (patachitra) of the three gods:

The style of the painting is typical of the Odisha patachitra tradition, characterized by vibrant colors, bold lines, and intricate decorative motifs. The deities are depicted in a simplified yet powerful form, with joyful and serene expressions. The three are flanked by two attendants and surmounted by a row of dancing figures, probably apsaras or gandharvas, celestial beings from Hindu mythology. At the bottom, two four-legged mythical creatures, perhaps lions or tigers, seem to stand guard.

Religious and cultural context:

The Jagannath triad is the centerpiece of the famous Rath Yatra, or Chariot Festival, of Puri, Odisha. During this festival, the deities are carried in procession on huge chariots pulled by devotees. The worship of Jagannath is a form of Vaishnavism, one of the main traditions of Hinduism that venerates Vishnu as the Supreme God.
