The 1952 "Stamp Day" set celebrated the 500th anniversary of the birth of King Ferdinand V.
The stamps depict King Ferdinand "the Catholic" (1452-1516); and Columbus telling the royal couple about his first trip to America (after a painting by Ricardo Balaca).
