Available here are two beautifully designed and engraved commemorative cards issued in 1908 to mark:

  • the centenary of the transfer of the Portuguese Court to Brazil in 1808 and the opening of its ports to international trade; depicting in the top corners the king of Portugal in 1908 (Carlos I) and the president of Brazil (Affonso Penna), as well as the flags of Brazil and Portugal and a view of shipping between an allegorical figure of Brazil and the Portuguese discoverer of Brazil, Pedro Álvares Cabral;
  • the Brazilian National Exposition of 1908. depicting an allegorical figure and symbols of art, trade and prosperity with a view of Rio and the Sugarloaf in the background.
