The Soviet vintage rangefinder camera - Fed 50 Soviet 35mm Automatic Compact Film Camera with Industar-81 Lens,
Was made in Kharkiv machine-building production Association "FED" from 1977 to 1990
The camera has a cast aluminum body with removable rear wall
Made in the USSR. High reliability, excellent optics, capability to shoot at low temperature.
Produced from 1986-96 the FED-50 is an automatic viewfinder camera with manual override and is finished all in black with gold lettering. It’s a point and shoot camera with both scale focus and a 4 zone pictograms in the viewfinder.
In the most part you’ll leave the aperture setting set at A for Automatic, set your focus and shoot. Focusing is by distance scale on the lens or symbols in the viewfinder. Shutter speeds of 1/30-1/650sec (auto mode) are visible in the viewfinder as is a parallax frame for close-ups.
In automatic mode, the camera will choose both aperture and shutter speed, from 1/30s to 1/650s and aperture from f2.8 to f14. In the manual mode, the camera will always fire using the 1/30sec shutter speed, allowing the photographer to choose any aperture from f2.8 to f16. When bulb (B) is selected on the other hand, the camera will be fixed in the f2.8 lens aperture.
The Industar-81 2.8/38mm lens with apertures of f2.8 - f16 is in excellent condition with no scratches or fungus, the bodywork is in super condition and the interior is clean and tidy with take-up spool in place.
Uses 35mm film (not included).
It is the ideal for lomography, street photography and travel.
