The Fox Studio Art Program began in 1992 with an auction at Christie's that featured original hand-painted production cels with the accompanying hand-painted backgrounds. Because of the scarce nature of these original hand-painted backgrounds, with roughly 100 cels for each background created, Fox began archiving these as well as storyboards, concept art and model sheets several years later.
