Since prices of new ROMs have gone up drastically, and the MPC2000XL Repair ROM is typically only used once, there is little reason to justify the higher price of a newly made chip. This is an older, USED, but verified working, older UV style EPROM. One situation where you may want a newly made chip is if you have a damaged flash chip on the 2000XL main board and need to boot from the Recovery ROM directly, this is extremely uncommon but still possible.
