A Moulieres Paris for Town and Travel dyed mouton processed lamb purchased at Thalhimer's department store. This stunning fur belonged to my mother in law and if we had to guess was purchased in the 1950's. I noticed other posts showing a very similar coat say 1930's, but unless this was handed down to her and then her initials added later 1950's is our best guess.  Inside on the lining is her monogram DHS embroidered. Back in the day, you had your coats monogramed that way when you went out and "checked" your coat in, they knew who it belonged to when you picked it back up after your event.

The fur is so much better looking in person! What a showstopper! A rich dark chocolate brown swing style coat features a raised collar,3/4 length sleeves that have a elastic lining at the cuff, crocheted hook-eye double closure, hidden slit side pockets, and a comfortable 3/4 length in a flared design.

This Moulieres Paris, France designed coat is modern looking, elegant and classy. It is in excellent condition, supple and ready to wear. It is fully lined in a lovely satin/acetate type lining. There is no size indicated but based on measurements and fit it seems to be a medium- large. If you are looking for warmth and beauty this coat is definitely for you! Please use the measurements below for proper fit.

The inside is fully lined in a striped grey, beige and brown fabric and has 2 original tags inside.  One is the Moulieres tag that says: Creations de Mode Paris. Moulieres Paris for Town and Travel. Dyed Mouton processed Lamb and under that tag is the monogram.  The second tag is for the department store that reads: For Salon. Thalhimers. Richmond, VA Winston-Salem, NC.

Measurements taken with coat laying flat and doubled where appropriate. In order to determine fit we recommend comparing measurements with an item that fits you well.

MEASUREMENTS~
Length:30" (Shoulder to hem)
Shoulder to Shoulder: 20"
Chest: 20 across  which would make bust around 40"
Sleeve: 19 (From shoulder seam to cuff bottom)

Thalhimers was a department store in the Southern United States. Based in Richmond, Virginia, the venerable chain at its peak operated dozens of stores in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and one store in Memphis, Tennessee.

OK, now for the condition of the coat.  The fur is in beautiful condition with now tears or stains: however, where the lapel folds the fur is "separated".  The fabric underneath is not damaged, it's more like a wrinkle. This is from being hung for many years in a garment bag. If you could lay the fabric different and let it relax, it should correct the problem.  The inside lining is gorgeous except for some damage near the neckline.  I would recommend a patch and not to sew it.  I believe this is also from hanging as the weight of the coat is significant. Please see the photos for further detail. Lastly, the one tag  down the side has come partially unsewn, easy fix.  The coat smells a little dusty to me, but no mildew smell.
