There have been some great moments in Los Angeles sports history. This outstanding book printed on slick paper describes in both text and great photography the 100 greatest of them all. I can't list them all, but here are just a few of those great moments: October 15, 1988 -- Kirk Gibson's homer in the 9th beats Oakland 5-4 in the first game of the World Series. November 30, 1974 -- The USC Trojans rally from a 24-0 deficit to score 7 2nd half touchdowns to route highly rated Notre Dame 55-24. March 31, 1975 -- John Wooden retires as his UCLA Bruins win their 10th NCAA title in 12 years. September 9, 1965 -- Sandy Koufax' 4th no-hitter is a perfect game against the Cubs. June 9, 1985 -- after years of frutration against the Boston Celtics, the Lakers finally beat them to win the NBA crown. January 7, 1972 -- The Lakers win their 33rd consecutive game with a 134-90 victory over Atlanta. August 19, 1988 -- Wayne Gretzky is traded to the Los Angeles Kings. March 2, 1940 -- Seabiscuit wins the Santa Anita Handicap. These are just a few of the 100 great Los Angeles sports moments (which include baseball, football, basketball, hockey, golf, horseracing, track & field, Olympics, boxing, soccer, auto racing and more) described in this book. This is truly one of the best sports books I have ever read. In addition to the great photography, there are team photos, reproductions of sports pages, magazine covers and much more. Again, this book is in beautiful NEAR MINT-MINT condition. No collection of books on sports history is complete without this one.
