YATAGAN SWORD: TECHNICAL AND HISTORICAL INFORMATIONS

It is a sword that has been identified with the town of Yatağan, which is famous for its knives and swords, from ancient times to the present day. It became widespread in the 16th century. Even the sultans used it at that time. Even Suleiman the Magnificent had the sword made by master Turkish blacksmiths and carried it with him and used it when necessary.

Now this sword is exhibited in the New York Metropolitan Museum. This sword was used by janissaries after Sultan Suleiman. This sword was very popular  because of its comfortable use. Finally, it was used by the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk during an operation.

The sword has different names in Europe. these names are a Head Scissors and Ears Cutter. The upper part of the sword is thick, it is very difficult to break and the sword is suitable for civilians because it is short and easy to carry.

We produced this sword in two different types. The steels of our swords are made of damascus steel. Different part is their handles. The handle of the sword is made of pure ramhorn bone material and is also known as a ceremonial sword.
