The CS8421 is a 32-bit, 192 kHz, asynchronous stereo sample rate converter. The digital audio input and output can be 32-bit, 24-bit, 20-bit, or 16-bit. The input and output data can be completely asynchronous or synchronous with the external data clock, or the integrated oscillator can be used to make the part run without any external clock. The audio data input and output are through a configurable 3-wire input/output port, and the component mode can be configured without any control software. The designer appreciates the ease of use of the device-the hardware configuration is very simple and does not require an external microcontroller. Another advantage of the package format is that space-saving 20-pin TSSOP or 20-pin QFN parts can be used.
