Recycled Sari silk Ribbon is the by-product of colorful saris that women wear in India. It is the loose ends of saris collected from industrial mills in India that is torn in stripes and sewn end to end to make beautiful and colorful ribbons. The vibrant colors and unique texture of these silk fabric, the sari silk ribbons are inspirational to designers, knitters, and artisans. The popularity of recycled silk ribbon has extended beyond India and has created an empowering cottage industry primarily benefiting women.
This ribbon is made of completely recycled Sari material from recycled clothing. We work with women’s Cooperative in the countryside to produce this unique ribbons and other hand knitted silk yarn products. Women make this ribbons and various knitwear in their homes while not neglecting their other household chores. This work provides additional income to support and improve their family earnings.

Also sometimes Sari Silk Ribbon will smell when you first get it. Not to fear! This is completely normal for natural silk products. Silk has a naturally musky, earthy smell, which can be enhanced after being packed in a box and sent from India. Along with that, India has a humid climate, with plenty of rain; their monsoon season is 4 months long, and lasts from June to September! If Sari Ribbon is made and packed during a particularly humid and rainy period, the smell can intensify. If it still smells after it is dried, you can either place it out in the sun, or put it in a sealed bag with dryer sheets.
Again these are 100% recycled ribbon, so no two skeins will be identical and color may vary because of camera and laptop resolution.
