This is a new old stock plate, never used. It has been on display in my house for 25 years. I purchase this exquisite butter/cake plate, along with others when I was in Copenhagen in the early '90's. I received an invitation the factory where I saw this plate being hand-painted and glazed. It was quite an experience. Nowadays, all Royal Copenhagen "Flora Danica" dinnerware is custom, must be ordered, and will take months to be delivered.

Considered the finest china dinning set in the world, Flora Danica was first produced by the royal family of Denmark as a gift to Catherine the Great, queen of Russia. Catherine died before the set could be delivered and has remained in the royal house of Denmark for exclusive use on rare occasions when special dignitaries are hosted.

Each wonderfully hand-painted dinner item depicts a native plant painted in real-size. This plate depicts the plant Epilobium Alpinum L. which is a delicate rose colored flower, one of the most popular in all of Flora Danica designs.

It's in excellent condition, never been used, and has been on display in our cabinet (see the wax on the bottom used to hold plate) all this time. Retail: $2.200, plus 3-6 months delivery time. This can now be yours, delivered this week , and at almost 60% off the list price.
