1955. blue cloth boards. 104 pgs. FIRST EDITION. The whole Mexican village awaits the arrival of a new tuba. FINE, NEAR FINE unclipped jacket with one tiny edge tear to upper rear panel.

Kirkus Reviews:  Paco's father had been a tuba player in the army band and his dream was to have a tuba of his own to play in the village band concert. All the villagers contributed except for Paco, who was too small to do any of the things to raise money. But Paco and his little dog find a most unusual way to earn a peso- and the tuba is safely ordered. The agony of the week of waiting- the part both Paco and Paquito take in the concert- and the near disaster at the end make a winning story. The background of Mexican village life and spirit is well done. Fun reading for 3rd and 4th graders.
