The ends are sculpted out of thick pieces of wood in the shape of an ornate garniture in high relief.
The bookends fold on hinges and collapse for storage and it expands to accept the amount of books desired.
It's in nice condition, has acquired a lovely patina from age, and measures 31 inches long at its largest length and 19 1/4 inches long at its smallest length by 9 1/4 inches wide and 7 1/2 inches tall.
There is some surface ware as seen in photos.
