1. DO NOT pour hot liquids as Ryukyu glass is NOT HEAT-RESISTANT.
2. DO NOT
expose the glass to drastic temperature change, in order to prevent it from
breaking.
3. After
use, please wash the glass with a soft sponge or cloth with dishwashing liquid.
To prevent scratches, please avoid using abrasives or hard scrubbing brushes.
4. DO NOT
heat the glass on an open fire, in microwaves or ovens.
5. DO NOT
wash the glass in a dish washer.
6. DO NOT
dry the glass in a dish drier.
<About Ryukyu Glass>
The history of glasswork in
Okinawa started about 100 years ago in the Meiji period, and it developed after
World War II by recycling waste glass of coke and beer thrown away by US
Military Bases there. Various colors of recycled glass and air bubbles that are
easy to appear in recycling gave Ryukyu glass crafts their original and unique
beauty. Nowadays it is becoming hard to collect waste glass, and usually new
glass is partially or entirely used, but the beauty of colorful glass and air
bubbles which are great features of Ryukyu glass crafts remains unchanged and
attracts us.
Ryukyu glass crafts are NOT HEAT-RESISTANT because of the air bubbles, which
make glass breakable when hot liquids are poured. Please be careful NOT to pour
a hot drink.
