German 1813/1814 medal

Missing loop, shows light wear. Lettering on rim is clear. Nice example

War Service Medal for Prussian veterans who fought against Napoleon during the years 1813 to 1814. The medals were created from captured, melted-down, French cannons. Information confirming the fact was etched around its edges. The obverse displayed König Friedrich Wilhelm III’s royal cypher. He led Prussia through this very difficult time. [Under his auspices, the Iron Cross was created in two classes and awarded to enlisted men, NCO’s, and officers]. The medal’s reverse displayed the years 1813, 1814 or both. Several variants of these dates exist and it impossible to tell due to the.condition. Thes are getting harder and harder to locate. No ribbon comes with this example.
