Description

Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki prospered in a town where selected ingredients and craftsmen gather from all over Japan. Heian Izumiyama, an original bonsai pot sent by a kiln that inherits that tradition. The kiln was founded in 1918 in the vicinity of Tofukuji Temple in Heian and Sennyuji Temple in Higashiyama, Kyoto, which was made by Sennyuji Temple. Currently the 4th generation of Kyo ware, Kiyomizu ware kiln, and pottery. There are more than 20 craftsmen involved in manufacturing at the workshop, which is one of the leading kilns in Kyoto. We decided to team up with KINBON to make Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki bonsai pots.
Kiyomizu ware produced by Toan is characterized by its vivid color and unique strength. By baking at a high temperature of 1,200 degrees, we succeeded in making strong Kiyomizu ware. It is difficult to produce a vivid color when baked at a high temperature, but by developing a glaze, the elegant color is maintained and it is not easily damaged.
The type is a wooden gourd type that has a reputation for its modern design and ease of use in the small bonsai world. The glaze is an original "flower crystal" by Mr. Yoshiaki Dobuchi, the current generation of pottery. Crystal glaze has the property that crystals appear in the process of melting and cooling the glaze, and the original glaze "Flower Crystal" was created by taking advantage of this crystallizing property. It was named because a beautiful pattern emerges as if a flower had bloomed. The appearance of crystals is different one by one, and the feature is that the same pattern does not appear as two, and you can enjoy a wide variety of crystal shapes. The seal is "Izumiyama" and the seal of the kiln and pottery "An"

"What is a flower crystal?"
Original "flower crystal" by Mr. Yoshiaki Dobuchi, the 4th generation of Toan. Flower crystal is a glaze created by using zinc oxide as the crystal glaze and taking advantage of the property that the crystals appear round. The base is white crystals, and various metals are added as a colorant to give a shade. The point where the cooling time and temperature after firing produce crystals cleanly. According to Mr. Dobuchi, crystals do not appear at ± 3 ° C from the proper temperature. If the temperature is 3 ° C higher, the crystals will fly, and if it is lower, the glaze will drip, and a delicate adjustment is required. Since there is a temperature difference in the kiln depending on the position where it is placed and the size of the pottery to be put together, the probability of loss increases. Therefore, even if you look at it nationwide, there are few kilns that handle mass-produced "flower crystals". It can be said that the high technology of pottery has created a "flower crystal" that is rich in originality at an affordable price. Since the appearance of crystals is not the same as one piece, even though it is a mass-produced product, it is also valuable as a single-item pot, which is another attraction of "flower crystals".
