Leather is 7 oz. Bison, sourced in the U.S. for making heavy boots. It is quite soft and supple, so it will conform to your hand when you pick up the pan. But its thick enough to take a lot of heat, and the end opens up nice so as to slip onto the pan easily. 

Features leather loop for hanging when not in use.
