Up for sale, a 1975 Fender Mustang Bass, 100% original save for a modern neck plate. This ash-bodied Mustang Bass is notably lightweight at 7lbs 9lbs, strung with roundwound 45-100 strings that accentuate the clear note attack and midrange punch of ash as a tonewood. Channeled through the split coil gray bobbin pickup, this Mustang Bass' sound is warm and thick, with classic low end thump with the Tone knob rolled back to taste and clarity in the treble frequencies. We've had this Mustang Bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a substantial U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .885" deep at the 1st fret and 1.010" at the 12th. The dark rosewood fretboard has pearloid dot inlay, retaining the original slender fretwire which has ostensibly received a light level and crown in the instrument's lifetime, as the frets show virtually no wear. The truss rod is responsive, the neck is straight, and this bass plays cleanly up the 30" scale. The modern nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock retains the original Fender-stamped tuners.

All of the electronics are original, and the CTS pots date to the 51st week of 1974, while the gray bobbin pickup has a 1975 date stamp. The chrome is particularly bright and clean on the control plate and bridge, with light surface patina on the barrel saddles. Original plastics include the knobs, deep maroon thumbrest, and multi-ply pickguard.

The Sunburst gloss finish is 100% original with no touchup or overspray, with a more muted appearance on the face of the instrument and a bolder ring of red on the back. Cosmetic wear includes buckle rash at the edge of the belly contour, and some light finish scratches across the back. There are some minor finish chips and dings along the lower bout body edge and a few additional marks on the body perimeter. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with wear through the gloss on the treble-side shoulder of the profile carve behind the 1st fret.

A padded gigbag is included.
