Fish-hook Pincushion cactus is one of the most striking of the Mammillaria family. Its beautiful dark green colored fleshy ribs are covered densely with chocolate colored, hooked spines. Younger spines sometimes are rusty red and give a rainbow like glow to the plant as the sun illuminates them. This cactus stays small and clusters so that one segment eventually becomes many segments clumped together. Beautiful small pink flowers encircle the tips and highlight this cactus in the spring!

These grow in a globular shape, clustering together as they mature. In their native environment they always thrive under the shelter of a host plant to shade them. In your patio or cactus garden environment care should be taken to give them morning sun exposure only.

This specimen should be part of any cacti enthusiasts' garden! It loves partial sunlight conditions and grows fantastically as a potted patio plant. It is cold hardy to about 20 degrees Fahrenheit so may need winter protection in colder climates.

Planting instructions will be included with your purchase!
