We are authorised Wharfedale dealers so you can be assured of the best possible customer service backed by full manufacturer warranty.

In the early 1980s, Wharfedale created the blueprint for modern 'budget' hi-fi speakers when it made the first-ever Diamond. The launch of a new Diamond range is always a major hi-fi event, What Hi-Fi described Diamond as "one of the most successful speaker ranges of all time" (What Hi-Fi? 2015). It's also one of the most enduring - the range in it's various guises has been on the market for the past 38 years, updated from one generation to the next.

The all-new Diamond 12 Series is the best range yet, developed in collaboration with Karl-Heinz Fink - one of the most successful loudspeaker designers on the planet.

Classic Diamond price points, industrial design that's cool and contemporary yet still distinctly Wharfedale, and sound that delivers a new 'budget' benchmark through exceptional acoustic design and engineering are all features of the new range.

Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 is a conventional bookshelf speaker and true all-rounder that embodies the legacy of the Wharfedale Diamond series. The 'affordable' hi-fi speaker features a compact enclosure with power and detail. Ideal for 2-channel hi-fi systems, it is also suitable for immersive home theatre regardless of room size and application.

With a high-performance 5" Klarity driver for excellent timing and finetuned bass, the 25mm woven polyester dome tweeter delivers open and smooth extended high frequencies.

Klarity affords focus

The new Klarity cone material is a Polypropylene and mica blend which adds rigidity to prevent flexing and supports a lightweight cone with high rigidity, reduced colouration and ultra-fast response.

Low colour and expression

Klarity cone is fitted with a low-damping surround for low colouration and impressive dynamics. The flat response curve has been achieved through much research and simulations so you don't need to resort to a high-damping surround.

Precision-made magnet system

An aluminium compensation ring is incorporated in the precision-made magnet system to lower the effect of variations in inductance. This causes less distortion and intermodulation produced by the 'motor system'.

Voice coil beyond class

The epoxy/glass fibre bobbin wound voice coil is rare in speakers at this price. The advantage is that is does not add eddy currents but does deliver greater power handling than an aluminium bobbin whilst also being more rigid than the Kapton type.

Diamond highs

The woven polyester film 25mm dome has a high-loss coating for open and smoothly extended high frequencies. The magnet system and front plate are optimised for wide dispersion and uncompressed behaviour. The flat front plate exposes the dome as much as possible with acoustic load balanced by only a very short duct to improve the sound pressure level.

Crossover of style

The crossover network uses an acoustic LKR 24dB topology employing air-core inductors found in high-end speakers which create the least distortion of all inductor types. As the resistance of the coil is higher than a standard laminated steel or ferrite core inductor, the magnet of mid/bass driver is modified to compensate for clean and undistorted bass.

Internal Cabinet Volume

The rear-ported enclosure is size so the internal volume compliments the drive unit system for the desired sonic result. A multi-layered sandwich design subdues the distinct characters of the cabinet's 'sound'. Even the resonant properties of the glue between the layers has been measured to identify the top combination.
