This is antique pre-owned item with some gold washed worn out around the edges and patina. 

Whiting Manufacturing Company has a long history in the New England states where it originated in 1840 as a jewelry manufacturer and expanded to produce a full line of silverware. It operated in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Connecticut and finally as a subsidiary of Gorham Silver in Providence Rhode Island after being purchased in 1926. The Whiting lion trademark continued to be used after 1926.
