These vintage The Listener magazines are a wonderful resource of news and contemporary thought - giving insight to the news, politics and current affairs of the world. There are articles and lots of pictures (in black & white), and these just war-time issues are particularly interesting! There are details about Radio Broadcasts, and there are transcripts of important broadcasts, including Winston Churchill, The King and other important figures - a truly fascinating look back at history as it was actually happening!

In this issue:
  • Germans Under Allied Rule – Broadcast Despatches
  • The Black Market in France by Thomas Cadett
  • Shakespeare on the Screen and in the School by Dallas Bower and John Garrett
  • Steps Towards San Francisco by Joseph C Harsch
  • I believe in China by Rev H. B. Rattenbury
  • Poems: Coming of Age by Paul Dehn; Fidelity to the Dead by Vernon Watkins

The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 33cm by 25cm, with pages 282 - 308

Condition: The magazine is in good condition, showing reading wear and some creasing to the covers, plus the paper is fragile and tanned with age with some brown spotting and the staples have rusted. There is a newsagents delivery name written on the front cover in pencil. Given that the magazine is over 70 years old, its condition is very good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask!
