On May 17, 2001, the Postal Service issued a stamp (Scott 3507) to honor the comic strip Peanuts, created by Charles M. Schulz (1922-2000) in 1950. The strip, featuring Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy, ran from 1950 to 2000.

This cover is on a long envelope and was cancelled three days later at Camp Snoopy at the Mall of America in Minnesota, Schulz's home state. The stamp depicts Snoopy as the World War I Flying Ace and was issued in Santa Clara, California, where Schulz lived for most of the strip's production. The cachet depicts the Red Baron.
