An incredible edition of The Bells and Other Poems by Edgar Allen Poe with illustrations by Edmund Dulac. A large luxury edition from 1912, bound in vellum and embossed and gilt with a detailed pattern of bells. Signed by Dulac on the flyleaf, with 28 color tipped-in plates (all covered in their original tissue paper) and other illustrations. Numbered copy 46. Published by Hodder & Stoughton. With an insert advertising the original exhibition of the drawings from this book at The Leicester Galleries in London from 23 November to Christmas, 1912.

The book measures 12-1/2” H x 10-1/2” W x 2” D.

In good to fair condition. The cover no longer has its ribbon ties. The front cover curves outward at the edges, mainly at the top right corner about 3/4”. The bottom outer corner of the front and back covers have dark mottled discoloration. The spine has some slight wear on the bottom half. There is an inscription dated 1916 on a flyleaf. Binding is intact. The flyleaves and the insert have a lot of darkening and foxing. The insert otherwise looks untouched, with sharp edges. Interior pages are in good condition with white pages, bright color illustrations, tissue paper covers intact, minor foxing, and few other issues. No musty smell. All in all, the covers will need some slight restoration and binding and pages are in good shape. See images images for details.
