These vintage The Listener magazines are a wonderful resource of news and contemporary thought - giving insight to the news, politics and current affairs of the world. There are articles and lots of pictures (in black & white), and these just war-time issues are particularly interesting! There are details about Radio Broadcasts, and there are transcripts of important broadcasts, including Winston Churchill, The King and other important figures - a truly fascinating look back at history as it was actually happening!

In this issue:
  • Road, Rail and River in the Ukraine by R. A. Pelham
  • Wiping Out Germany’s War Production by John Strachey
  • Tribute to Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch by Sir John Squire - 80th Birthday
  • Why Did Not the Last War End War? by Sir Norman Angell, John Christie & Sir John Clapham
  • The Shopping Basket Rules the World by Michael Graham
  • Too Much Sugar? by O. T. Faulkner
  • The Water-Colours of Anthony Gross by Osbert Lancaster
  • Poem: Geoffrey Grigson
  • The USAAF in Action

The magazine is large format, measuring appoximately 33cm by 25cm, with pages 598 - 624

Condition: The magazine is in good vintage condition, small tear to the bottom edge of all pages, showing reading wear and some creasing to the covers - visible in the picture below, plus the paper is fragile and tanned with age with some brown spotting and the staples have rusted. Given that the magazine is over 75 years old, its condition is very good, but certainly not perfect! The magazine pictured below is the one you will receive.

I accept returns, and if you’d like any further information, just ask!
