Rhubarb Champagne - 25 Industry Quality Seeds

Champagne is an old rhubarb variety that yields long stems with a pale pink colour (forced) It also has a very sweet flavour. This is a popular variety for forcing between February and April or picked as normal outside until June where the stalks will be thicker and deeper red.

Sow seeds in pots or trays indoors from February. Plant 1cm deep in good quality compost, water and place in a warm place with light maintaining a temperature of 18 - 21C. Keep soil moist and germination takes 10-12 days. If using trays, pot on after about 4 weeks and plant out into your final growing position, ideally in full sun10-12 weeks later. Rhubarb are hungry plants that will do well with the addition of good quality compost and well rotted manure each year.
