Pair of Aluminium Door Latch Striker
Plate B Post Repair Section
This will fit all Defender models 1983-2016 and all Series 2 2a and 3
models 1958-1984
This panel is designed to repair the front area of the body tub, where
the door striker and seat box bolt to.
Very often the bottom area where the seat box bolts to is corroded away
or where the door striker bolts to is cracked meaning your door striker flexes.
This panel gives you new solid material for your seat box to attach to.
We manufacture this repair section ourselves in the UK, made from 2mm
aluminium laser cut and CNC pressed for accuracy
We have included all of the holes for mounting such as where the seat
box bolts to at the bottom, where the metal support bracket bolts to in the
middle and the hole at the top to clear the factory steel rivet, to make
fitting as straightforward as possible.
The only holes it does not included is the ones for the door striker.
The reason being is that over the years there have been a few different types
of striker fitted meaning holes in different places. So once you have got the
other holes lined up and bolted. You can drill from behind through the old
striker holes.
The best way to attach would be by a combination of bolting, bonding and
riveting.
Using a sealant such as Tiger seal or another type of PU sealant, apply
sealant to the back of the new panel. Align the new section into place using
the holes as a reference. Fit the bolts to the 2 middle holes which hold the
middle steel support bracket. Then drill a few holes in key locations to fit
the pop rivets. You can then drill the holes for the door striker and then
start reassembly.
You could use no rivets for a more factory look and just rely on the
bolting and bolding. If doing so, just use clamps to keep the new section
sandwiched tight over the old piece until the bonding cures.
You could emit using a sealant and just rely on both the bolting of the
panel and pop rivets to attach.
If you are just wanting to repair the area where the striker is bolted
to, due to cracking, and do not want to remove the seat box. You can just cut
this panel shorter and just use the upper section.
