The Quantum Cube is here, made by Quantum, a Volkswagen UK subsidiary. All in all, it is a genuine Volkswagen part, and we just love it! With all the talk of the great waste of plastic bottles in the news over recent years, we are so pleased to see this product at last, sure it’s just a box, a bag and some special oil, but it is clever and exactly what we need.

A remarkable progression of something we all use, a natural move, some may say, but it’s everyone doing their bit. From the German technology, to being Made in Britain, it all points to masses of effort in 2 countries by Volkswagen to improve the situation, and now we can all do our bit to help reduce waste by using the new Cube and correctly disposing of the packaging upon use of the oil.

Just imagine the waste or volume of space from those old 5L bottles in comparison to the cube, this is good for the environment and something all petrol and diesel lovers can do to help. No more 5L plastic bottles to go to landfill.

Being a professional type of product, environmental laws and procedures demand you familiarise yourself with the regulations when servicing your vehicle due to the oil waste. We conclude from our research of the regulations, the best practise is to wash the bag in your parts cleaner fluid, and never in the sink!! Under no circumstances should the bag be rinsed in the sink, nor waste put to water course! Common sense perhaps, but not if you don’t know. Government websites/local authorities can advise you if unsure and are often happy to help you do it right.

A larger jerry can , 15L or 20L is recommended for the transportation of your service oil to your local recycling facility, which is normally free of charge and where it will then be recycled.

If unsure of the procedures not only do we recommend to check and familiarise yourself with local environmental regulations, we also highly recommend you to use a workshop manual or seek professional guidance if unsure nor willing to look these things up, no parts washer? Oil and any containers (the empty bag) is to be stored and disposed of correctly. (your local rubbish disposal can advise on the disposal of ‘Oil containers’. Even washed it may still be considered as an oil waste, so please check, it should be recyclable but we all know not all local governments see it that way..) The outer card can be recycled at any cardboard recycling facility assuming you don’t drop any oil on it..

This item is the recommended oil for various Volkswagen Engines exc DPF and is approved for use with many other makes/models, just ask if you need a different type or unsure.
