Brine Shrimp 
A classic, nutritious food for almost all aquaria. Our brine shrimp are grown in house, in a controlled environment free of pests and diseases.  Your fish will hunting Brineshrimp, mimicking natural behaviours.  Nutritious and safe for all aquarium fish, perfect for gaining weight on bloodstock and new arrivals/imports.

Should be stored in a cool pace, unopened until ready to use. Sieve the contents of the bag with a net and feed your fish!

River Shrimp 

Also known as feeder, glass and grass shrimp, these are found in estuaries and brackish rivers. Great for predatory fish such as larger cichlids, large wild Betta, Lion Fish, Stingrays and Puffer Fish etc.. High in protein, your fish will enjoy chasing them as well as benefit from the high nutrient content. Our River Shrimp are all harvested from Sustainable UK sources.


River shrimp are best kept cold. Shrimps will last up to a week in the bag at 5-8c. They should survive in a marine or salt water aquarium for a few hours which will give enough time for your fish to hunt them.

Daphnia
Sometimes known as water fleas due to their jerky swimming motion, these freshwater crustaceans are a natural food occurring in ponds and lakes.  Excellent for cold-water or tropical freshwater fish and good for bringing fish up to breeding condition. Daphnia are very high in protein and perfect for Tetras, Discus, Dwarf Cichlids, Livebearers and Corydoras etc. Our Daphnia is caught by ourselves sustainably in disease and fish free ponds.

Daphnia should be stored, like brine shrimp, in a cool place or refrigerated unopened until ready to use. Stored properly, they will keep for up to a wek.
 
Tubifex
Tubifex is one the 'classic' livefoods. Perfect for all freshwater bottom feeders, cichlids, catfish etc. Historically, this product was considered dirty, but due to modern techniques, our tubifex is disease free and ready to go! Feed in a cone or scatter. If the tubifex hides in your sand/gravel, it only offers more enrichment! Ideal for fussy marine feeders such as Copperbands too!

Tubifex worm are very susceptible to warm temperatures and need to be kept refrigerated if not used straight away.  Store them refrigerated and unopened for up to a week.

Bloodworm
Bloodworm is the larval stage of an insect similar in size and shape to a mosquito, although these do not bite or carry disease.  Sourced from Eastern Europe, bloodworm are high in iron which is in the haemoglobin type substance that gives them their red colour. Our product is thoroughly washed and cleared so you can feed your fish, assured of the quality. this food is perfect for medium to large bottom feeders, smaller cichlids, Loaches and Pea Puffers and other oddballs.

Blood worm can be stored in the unopened bag or can be drained through a net and stored in newspaper folded over to make a small envelope (they take up much less space in the fridge like this).  Either way, it's crucial blood worm is kept refrigerated as it reacts poorly to warm temperatures. is very susceptible to hot temperatures and will die quickly if it gets too warm.

Copepods
The most abundant animal making up zooplankton in our oceans, copepods are nutritious and perfect for feeding to small marine fish and fry that may be too small to eat adult brine shrimp.  A natural scavenger, they will help clean left over food and algae in the tank and are often kept in the sump or refugium of marine tanks. Ideal for feeding Seahorses, Pipefish, Corals and Mandarins.

Marine copepods keep well provided they are kept cool. Best kept unopened in the refrigerator until use.  If stored properly they should keep for a week or more.

Hatch in the bag
Decapsulated brine shrimp eggs in water, ready to hatch.  These have had the outer shell removed which greatly increases the hatch rate and ensures they can't get stuck in the intestinal tract of your fish.  Keep them in the fridge until use then leave them at room temperature or floating in your tank for 24 hours and you will have a bag of newly hatched brine shrimp naupli, ready to sieve out and feed to your fry/fish. 

To store, hatch and feed hatch in the bag nauplii:

  • Keep refrigerated until ready to use

  • Remove from fridge and keep at room temperature or slightly above for 20-24 hours

  • Feed as soon at the majority of cysts have hatched and you can see plenty of movement when the bag is held still and viewed against a light

  • If feeding to salt water fish the contents can be emptied straight into the tank - the water is relatively low salinity of around 15ppt

  • For freshwater fish strain through a fine mesh net of 200 microns


Salt Water Algae
Nannochloropsis phytoplankton (algae) in salt water.  Can be added to the tank or sump complete with water. Ideal for Soft Corals and Acropora etc.

Copepods
Glassworm is the larval stage of Chaeborus insects. This active worm swims in the water column and is irresistible to fish swimming in the same areas such as medium to large tetras, barbs, goldfish, Discus and Angelfish etc. Not safe to feed with very young fry in the tank due to its micro predatory behaviour. This product is pest and disease free and a very high protein food source. Bags can last up to two weeks if kept cool and unopened.  

Mysis
Mysis are small shrimps which we source from sustainable rivers, dykes and estuaries in the UK. These high protein shrimps are popular amongst predatory marine and freshwater keepers. Bags may look blue on arrival, due to the addition of Math Blue to prolong the health and life of the shrimps. 
Keep bags cool and unopened until ready to use, for up to two weeks

Blackworm
A relatively new entry to the fishkeeper's livefood collection. Originating from California, these worms are very active and high in nutritional value. Perfect for encouraging fish to spawn, and a must have for Corydoras, Discus, Pufferfish and Copperband keepers!

Worms should be kept cool and the bags can last up to 2 weeks, unopened.
