When Brent Paulson and his wife, Darla, answer God's call to return to their home state of Mississippi to serve Big Bottom Baptist Church, they look forward to being closer to family and to eating good fried catfish again. But it's not long before they encounter Wanda W. Washburn, teacher of the Elite Ladies Bible Class; a power-hungry group of deacon officers who criticize Brent's choice of shirt colors; and a runaway cell phone during one Sunday service.

Join Brent and Darla as they learn to minister to Big Bottom's colorful characters, from the guest preacher who shows up in a kilt and is still preaching after forty-five minutes, to the kind, elderly Miss Jane Winfield, who dispenses God's love and wisdom along with oatmeal cookies and wonders whether she should accept an invitation for coffee from a widower in his eighties.

Every church is filled with these folks: the considerate and the crabby, the compassionate and the cantankerous. Come on in and worship with them at Big Bottom Church-but be sure to bring an open heart and your sense of humor!
