World War I is a simulation on the army level of the land combat in Europe from 1914 to 1918. the simulation is primarily a land conflict with the secondary influence of naval forces abstractly simulated. The game covers five years in semi-annual (six-month) turns.  Enjoyable with 3 or 4 players or solitaire.  Could be 5 players if someone played the Italians.

Each issue Strategy and Tactics had a game included.  Incentive to become a subscriber.  The best ones also were available in a folio pack or like this one with trays for the pieces and storage for the directions and maps.  Some even became bookcase games with a hard map and good box and tray to hold the playing pieces.  This game was punched but never played.  I had a second copy and played that one.  Still have it.  All of these classic SPI games are collector's items and will continue to appreciate.

I have played this game many times and have a couple of copies besides this one.  This is a classic game.  With easy directions and playable within a reasonable time.  German storm troops are great and so is the allied tank unit.  Both sides slug it out.

Postage is $12.50 because it is a large game and requires a large box plus careful packing.
